Our story

Built by hand, on purpose.

H’Owl at the Moon Farm wasn’t bought as an investment property. It was built by hand — a real log cabin raised on a hill called Serenity Hill, finished in 2016, on land that’s been walked, worked, and loved ever since.

Your host William is a city boy turned country who never looked back. He lives locally, answers fast, and sometimes swings by to greet guests in person. When he can’t, caretaker Diana checks in on arrival day to make sure you’re settled.

This isn’t a flip or a franchise. It’s one family’s cabin, kept the way they’d want to find it — and shared with people who’ll treat it like their own.

“I spent two years looking for a unique property that had it all — views, interesting topography, mix of woods and pasture, some water, total privacy… Well, I finally found it. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.”

— William, on finding the land

Rustic outside. Surprisingly luxurious inside.

Two bedrooms, two full baths, sleeps four — a rare blend of deep-woods solitude with the comforts of home.

🏠

The great room

Vaulted pine ceilings, exposed beams, and a wall of windows — anchored by a dramatic two-story semi-round window that floods the room with light.

🍳

A kitchen for real cooking

Soapstone countertops, six-burner gourmet gas range, and a fully stocked kitchen: quality cookware, spices, staples, Keurig, and wine glasses at the ready.

🛋

Loft master suite

King bed on a frame built from repurposed barn wood, plush memory-foam mattress, oriental rugs, walk-in closet, and a private bath with twin vessel sinks.

🛌

Downstairs bedroom

Two pillow-top twin beds with its own private bath featuring a 16″ rain shower — ideal for kids over 13, friends, or grandparents.

100 acres. Zero neighbors in sight.

Meadows, forest, a year-round creek with pools and waterfalls, and a spring-fed pond — plus access to 200 more acres of neighboring trails for hiking and four-wheeling.

★★★★★

“We had a great stay at the cabin with our dog. Clean and comfortable, lots of sitting and music options, a well-stocked kitchen that made cooking easy. A great place to get away from the city, yet not too far. We enjoyed the trails, relaxing by the fire pit, and the star show at night!”

“You begin to feel it from the moment you turn down the driveway… You’re on vacation and yet, somehow, you’ve come home. You were meant to be here. Before you know it, you are under her spell.”

Good to know

The fine print, up front.

✓

Dogs welcome — up to 2, under 50 lbs each. No pet fee, but send an inquiry first so William knows who’s coming.

✓

Check-in after 4 PM, check-out by 11 AM. A signed rental agreement is required within 48 hours of booking.

✓

Full weekends or full weeks, please — single Friday or Saturday nights only by inquiry, and more flexible off-peak.

✓

Kids 13+ — the cabin isn’t childproof and no baby gear is provided. No events or parties.

✓

Smoking outdoors only, all refuse collected. Treat the place like your own.

✓

Gravel roads in, stars out. Any car makes it (Teslas to RVs), but don’t expect it to stay clean. External security cameras are disarmed during your stay.

Can I actually unplug here?

Yes — that was the original idea. The cabin was marketed as a true off-grid escape before internet arrived here, and the cell signal is still weak (Verizon only). Starlink wifi at 100 Mbps is there when you need it — work, streaming, storms — and plenty of families just unplug the router and tell the kids there’s no internet. Best of both worlds: unplug on your terms.

Can I bring my ATV or horse?

Yes — bring horses or four-wheelers and enjoy 100 acres plus 200 more acres of neighboring trails (all months except mid-September through early January, which is hunting season). No shooting of any animals without William’s prior approval.

Why book direct instead of Airbnb or Vrbo?

Same cabin, same host, lower price. Booking direct on Houfy means zero platform service fees — what you see is what you pay, and more of it stays local.

What should I pack?

Less than you think. Bath towels, linens, soaps, shampoo, hair dryers, first-aid kit, dishwasher detergent, spices and staples — all provided. Just bring food, clothes, and your dog.
